HEALTH AND SAFETY IN THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE INDUSTRY

There is an outstanding concern in the food and beverage company industry that they contribute to the food safety in a global scale. This food and beverages companies include a well-known fast food company called KFC (Research and markets, 2014:2).

Health and Safety  

The local environmental health department is in charge of inspections of licensed premises; they carry out investigations concerning the cleanliness of the premises and check if there are any risks in the premises and follow any accidents. Cleanliness of kitchens, storage and temperatures of food and also the kind of products used for cleaning are major concerns to the environmental health officers. Also the absence of risk assessment plan is a crime (Lillicrap and Cousins, 2006: 388). 

The company sectors have come up with a variety strategy which involves how to reuse, reduce and recycle waste such as hazardous materials and recycling oil. Big companies like breweries are producing some drinks which are sugar free such as Pepsi, coke zero and also nestle companies produce products concentrated on nutrition and wellness products Goldstein, A. and Primlani, B. (2010).

Maintaining a safe Environment

According to Lillicrap and Cousins (2012:48) Safety is civil right and failure to provide it is criminal offence and legislation act include understanding the food hygiene regulations and that it is their responsibility to act within the bounds of these regulations. Also to participate on evacuation drills and ensure that fire exists remain clear at all times. The food and beverage sector are to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves, of others and ensure that health and safety regulations are followed.

Technology has a great influence in the food and beverages industry such as science in food production, the use of information technology in restaurants operations and the social media for marketing. Improved use of expert intelligence includes availability of standard operation on the internet the whole day and also automatic management system designed for pricing. (Walker and Walker, 2014:86) (Davis etal, 2012: 367)
EFFECTS OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
Davis etal, (2012:367) states that the scientific research methods of producing foods with the help of genes in a way away from natural means is referred to as Biotechnology. Normally the public refer to those foods as genetically modified foods. It is argued that these genetically modified foods are the only solution to accommodate and increasing population whereas some argue that it possesses threat to the human health and world ecology.

The structure consists of advertisement, press, direct mail, travel agencies, and central reservation offices and through each individual property.
USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN GUEST SERVICES AND OVERALL OPERATIONS
The mobile technology is what everyone talks about and it is pervasive this incudes social site like Facebook and Twitter which provides a platform for restaurants. Many restaurants are creating their own web presence and the other trend will be to make followers into paying customers and brand ambassadors (Melnick, 2011).
 SUMMARY
All in all this shows how technology is a major factor in the food and beverages operations as it covers a large scale from food production using biotechnology booking and pricing of meals using Opera software and marketing of the restaurants like using the internet, Facebook and Twitter.
